What is a "Fono"?

A "Fono" can be recognised by its polished keratin horns, smooth velvet scales, round nerdy glasses, and luscious aquamarine hair - this last quality being characteristically impressive, considering that lizards don't have hair. Nor glasses. Nor are they bipedal, nor do they communicate using several - not one, but many - languages that do not include hissing, chirping, squeaking or clicking sounds that otherwise resonate like a piqued wet fart. What's better (or worse) is that this creature actually possesses a form of intelligence. This means, for example, that it will understand when insults are directed at it, and will appropriately bite back with a force comparable to getting one's hand scarred through a blanket presently jumped and clawed at by a house cat.

When first approached by our researchers - who had to catch the director from a knock on their ass, startled by the creature's sudden and excited rush of steps towards them - it proudly claimed (paraphrased) to be capable of artistic skill and creative interpretation. When asked to demonstrate, it presented us with a mildly stiff piece of paper, on it a doodle of a green and muscular character wearing a sort of animal skull mask, with the line work becoming increasingly ecstatic reaching the waist. When questioned on the meaning of this piece, as well as why the figure's clothes were limited to just a tattered loin cloth (since somebody had the bright idea of asking), it claimed in a defeated tone (and in perfect English) that we are "too uncultured to deserve an explanation", upon which it manoeuvred off to its corner in a manner comparable to a carbonated beverage slowly hissing open before pathetically stalling from a lack of pressure.

A "Fono" is a truly eclectic - if a little twee - scaly creature, that bars underestimation at most costs.
